Balmung Medical Celebrates Milestone at \u201cHorizonQuarter\u201d Kirchbichl<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kirchbichl, May 28, 2026 \u2013 More than 200 invited guests from business, politics, and society attended the event held on May 28, 2026, at the large-scale construction site of the \u201cHorizonQuarter\u201d in Kirchbichl. In a ceremonial setting and in the presence of Tyrolean Governor Anton Mattle, a significant milestone for the forward-looking major project was celebrated in the nearly completed North Logistics Hall: on the one hand, the North Logistics Hall, the first building structure, will soon commence operations; on the other hand, construction of the additional buildings has recently begun\u2014most notably the impressive office complex rising approximately 55 meters (180 feet) high.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Centralization and Innovation Platform for Balmung Medical<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also already under construction is the South Logistics Hall, located in the southern part of the site, with completion scheduled for the turn of the year 2026\/2027. While the North Logistics Hall will serve as Balmung Medical\u2019s future central warehouse, the southern section of the site will house an ideally connected replenishment warehouse.<\/p>\n

The Balmung Medical Group, internationally recognized for high-quality medical products and innovative healthcare solutions, will utilize its new headquarters in Kirchbichl for far more than traditional logistics functions. The owner-managed Tyrolean family business stands for seamless and reliable supply of medical products to the global healthcare market. At the new centralized location, the corporate group will bring together management, administration, and logistics, thereby creating highly modern and efficient working and organizational structures.<\/p>\n

In addition, the site will be established as a strategic platform for research and development as well as future-oriented healthcare projects. As a result, the campus will make a substantial contribution to national healthcare supply security while strengthening the long-term resilience of infrastructure for medical products and services. At the same time, the consolidation of research, development, and innovative healthcare initiatives creates ideal conditions for technological advancement and the sustainable development of the healthcare sector. The large-scale project therefore represents an essential cornerstone of Balmung Medical\u2019s internationally oriented expansion strategy.<\/p>\n

Sustainable Transformation of a Former Industrial Site<\/strong><\/p>\n

More than EUR 110 million will be invested in the \u201cHorizonQuarter,\u201d which is being developed on the site of the former Perlmooser cement works, by the time the project reaches its final stage of development. This investment also includes a childcare facility and a second office tower planned for a later construction phase. The project is being developed and implemented by BlackHorizon Group, a sister company within the same corporate group specializing in project development and real estate investments.<\/p>\n

Prior to construction, the site underwent a technically demanding demolition process of the former industrial facilities, during which approximately 214,000 cubic meters (7.6 million cubic feet) of enclosed building volume and three distinctive silo towers reaching heights of up to 65 meters (213 feet) were removed. The demolition generated approximately 120,000 tons of recycled concrete material, which was reused directly on-site to transform the previously almost entirely sealed industrial area into a sustainable development site. This consistent focus on the entire life cycle of the project was recognized with a DGNB Gold Pre-Certification.<\/p>\n

Modern Infrastructure and Highly Qualified Jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n

The overall concept combines modern logistics, office infrastructure, and lifestyle-oriented amenities. The Balmung Medical Group will be the primary occupant of the new office complex, which will provide approximately 13,747 square meters (148,000 square feet) of gross floor area. In addition, around 3,000 square meters (32,300 square feet) of flexibly designed office space within the tower will be available for lease to partners and third-party companies. In the medium term, the building will be complemented by a second tower providing an additional approximately 6,400 square meters (68,900 square feet) of gross floor area.<\/p>\n

In addition to high-quality employee and visitor amenities, the development will include a public company restaurant featuring a fresh-cooking concept, a spacious seminar and event area, and an exclusive sky restaurant offering panoramic views from more than 50 meters (164 feet) above ground. Employees will also benefit from an in-house fitness center and a dedicated childcare facility located directly on the campus. Upon completion of all development phases, the various buildings on the site will provide space for up to 1,000 jobs.<\/p>\n

Statements on the Event<\/strong><\/p>\n

Engelbert Leobacher, Managing Partner of Balmung Medical and BlackHorizon Group, stated:

Governor Anton Mattle emphasized the project\u2019s significance for the region:
\u201cHorizonQuarter further strengthens Tyrol as a life sciences hub. The project creates high-quality, future-proof jobs in the region and provides important momentum for research, development, and medical care. Companies such as Balmung Medical demonstrate the potential Tyrol offers as an innovation and business location in the healthcare sector. Particularly in times of international uncertainty, it is crucial to secure value creation, expertise, and supply capabilities in Europe and in Tyrol in order to remain competitive over the long term and become less dependent on international markets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Completion Scheduled for 2028<\/strong><\/p>\n

The property was acquired by BlackHorizon in 2020, followed by demolition activities in 2021 and 2022. After obtaining the necessary permits in 2024, construction of the North Logistics Hall commenced in mid-2025. Most recently, construction of the South Logistics Hall and the office complex began in spring 2026, with completion of the office complex scheduled for early 2028.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
